After 4 months of hard work, the new garden was finished at the end of July. We changed the former lawn with only one tree into an outdoor enclosure for our Somalis. Furthermore we integrated a second enclosure for our stud. So when one of our girls is on heat we can separate them. Nevertheless both will be outside in the garden. On March 28th. 2007 we cut the first sod. We wanted to change the former garden into a garden of our dreams for us and our beautiful Somalis and we had particular requirements.
For the pavilion, the pond and especially for the fence we had to level the garden. That was heavy labour because the garden was very stony and we had to level a drop of about 1.5m. And all the work was done by hand. When digging the hole for the pond and the footing for the pavilion we got so much soil that we were able to fill up the bottom part of the garden. Now the garden was nearly level and we could start to set up the fence. The fence is about 2.10m and has been curved inwards. We can have a siesta and don’t have to fear that the cats will escape. Three gates are included so that we will have access to the rest of our garden. As to be seen on the pics we covered most of the enclosure with pebbles because we want to minimize ticks and fleas in our bedroom. Most of our cats sleep in our beds. The days of mowing the lawn and weeding the garden have gone forever. Great. As I’m always concerned about the cats could catch an infection we surrounded the bottom half of the pavilion with acrylic glass to prevent the contact with other cats. Since that day when the cats first entered their new territory we just sit on the new terrace and watch them play and having fun. It’s much better than television and compensates for all the troubles. |
